Welcome Library Director Michael Beck!

Scottsdale recently welcomed Michael Beck as leader of the city's public library system. Most recently, he served as the city of Glendale's chief librarian, where he spearheaded innovative public programming, cultivated vital partnerships, secured numerous successful grants, oversaw building renovations and projects, and notably, established the Heroes Regional Park Library. In Scottsdale, he will oversee operations, collections and programming.

We're celebrating Earth Month all April long with a variety of programs for all ages. There is something for everyone!

Teen Summer Volunteers

The library is looking for friendly, energetic and responsible teens between the ages of 14-17 to assist with the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge and other special library projects. Earn volunteer credits and valuable work experience. Applications are available April 1-30.

New Streaming Video Service for Parents & Caregivers

As a Family Place Library, we are thrilled to offer you access to ParentTV. ParentTV offers thousands of on-demand parenting videos and courses with content designed to support those who care for children, from pregancy and birth through to teenage years. Most videos are under 10 minutes in length and can be accessed on your computer, table or smartphone using your library barcode number and PIN code. Videos are also available in Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi and Spanish languages.

Scottsdale Earth Week Celebrates City's Commitment to Sustainable Future

From volunteer road cleanups and guided nature walks in our beautiful preserve, to an edible garden and green building presentations, Scottsdale has a full line-up of events for everyone looking to recognize our planet. 
 
Scottsdale Earth Week kicks off from 9 – 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, with an Earth Fest event at Cactus Park. Bring family and friends to celebrate Earth and Arbor Day with sustainability-focused educational booths and learn about the city’s eco-friendly initiatives. This free event will also feature a tree and cactus planting ceremony to mark Scottsdale’s 42nd year as a Tree City USA community.
 
Earth Week is an opportunity to shine the light brighter on environmental topics that Scottsdale focuses on year-round. To see the full schedule, visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov and search "Earth Week."
