Get in the Festive Spirit with Holiday Programs 
Make a festive snow globe to give as a gift or keep for yourself as a holiday craft!
 
Bring the whole family to enjoy holiday music during this month’s Scottsdale Sounds! This month’s showcase will feature Christmas music by George & Georgia and Chanukah music by Yehudie and the Gefilte Fish.
 
(all ages / 45 min / space is limited) Come ride the storytime Polar Express. Wear your pjs and join us for a holiday story, songs and treats! Do you believe? 
 

Get one-on-one assistance with your eReader or mobile device to access ebooks, audiobooks, music, streaming films and more. These first-come, first-served sessions are for patrons familiar with their devices who want to explore our free digital offerings. Bring your device, library card and passwords.

In partnership with Blue Zones Project Scottsdale and The Friends of Scottsdale Public Library, all four branch locations are now stocked with edible plant and herb seeds appropriate for Arizona growing conditions and seasons. Library cardholders may check out up to three seed packets per month.

Visit Rio Montaña Park and enjoy the newest StoryWalk® "Addy’s Chair to Everywhere" by Debi Novotny! StoryWalk® is a fun and educational way for people of all ages to combine physical activity with books and to help build children’s interest in reading while encouraging healthy activity for all. An Open House Celebration was held to celebrate the new story, where over 40 people enjoyed crafts, met the author and listened to the story. 

Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, the Friends of the Scottsdale Public Library is transitioning the membership renewal to an annual renewal process. This means that all Friends memberships will begin on Jan. 1 and end on Dec. 31. Additionally, anyone who donates or becomes a Friends member during October, November or December of one year will be considered a Friend for the following calendar year.
 

All Scottsdale Public Library locations, including Pony Express at Appaloosa Library, will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24 and remain closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday. All locations will also close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 and remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, for the New Year's holiday. See a full list of our holiday hours and scheduled closures.
