Get ready for the library's annual play date! Join us for a free, play-filled morning of art, science, literacy and building activities. Play is a fundamental part of early learning and this event celebrates it through hands-on fun for the whole family. Take holiday photos with the Grinch and explore over 40 interactive booths featuring chalk art, free face painting and balloon animals, plus dance parties with Pete the Cat and Elephant and Piggie.

Enjoy a morning at Rio Montaña Park with the library’s newest StoryWalk book, “I’m a Unicorn” by Helen Yoon. Families can wander the park as they follow along the pages of this delightful tale. Interactive activities and tasty snacks make this event perfect for children and families of all ages.

Uncover Arizona’s hidden histories! We’ll explore the fascinating and often overlooked aspects of Arizona's past with ASU professor Eduardo Pagàn. This program is presented in partnership with Osher Lifelong Institute at ASU. Please note that the program has moved from Mustang Library to Civic Center Library.
 
Kathleen and Darryl Toupkin are Scottsdale residents who recently completed their quest to visit all 432 National Park Service units in the United States. These explorers will discuss their travels, talk about the National Park System and highlight some of their favorite destinations. Bring your questions so they can help you with your national park adventures!

Scottsdale Civic Center - Restricted Access
The Old Town Scottsdale calendar is filled with events this season with an expected surge in visitors over the next several months. To ensure the highest level of safety and quality at these events, in some cases, public areas will be restricted. This includes limited access to the Scottsdale Civic Center surrounding the Dreamy Draw Music Festival and Every Woman’s Marathon.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Sunday, Nov. 8: Full closure beginning at the end of the business day on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
  • Monday, Nov. 9 – Wednesday, Nov. 12: Limited access, open on the north side only via east/west access points beginning midday.
  • Thursday, Nov. 13 – Sunday, Nov. 16: Full closure
  • Monday, Nov. 17: Limited access. The Scottsdale Civic Center will reopen in stages as teams safely load out equipment. 
The entrance to the Youth Room at Civic Center Library will be closed from end of day Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Monday, Nov. 17. Please also be aware that there may be limited parking during this time at Civic Center Library.

All Scottsdale Public Library locations, including Pony Express @ Appaloosa, will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for the Veterans Day holiday. All locations will also close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, and remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
